We occasionally offer personal delivery depending on your location and our schedule. The rate will depend on where you are located and if it is flying or driving. Most airlines will allow the dog to go on the plane with passengers if it is small enough to fit under the seat. I occasionally offer personal delivery by air depending on your location. I do now have a carrier who offers personal on board delivery by plane thru Delta. See Shipping by Plane below. Personal ground delivery is generally 30/cents per mile by Mapquest directions my address to yours depending on location, distance, and our schedule. Remember we are in West Central South Carolina. Our zip code is 29832 if you want to Mapquest from your location. We will not deliver without at least receiving the delivery fee in advance. Feel free to call or e-mail for details on this service. 803 270-0228 or calabelfarms@yahoo.com
We have recently become aware of a great service thru uShip.com where pups can be delivered my door to yours for a very competitive rate. You simply go to their website and put in your zipcode and mine (29832). You will receive bids for shipping your pet and you simply select the one that best suits you. You only pay a small fee upfront and the rest on delivery. The online form will ask for crate size. I generally give them 14 X 23 X 12 which is a medium size. In the comments section BE SURE TO ask that they provide the crate unless you've made special arrangements with me for me to provide one. (The $300 I charge to ship by plane includes a crate.) When you choose uShip for delivery you must request and pay for a crate if you want me to provide one. If they provide the crate be sure to request that it be sanitized after the last pet. Finally, if you choose uShip be sure you contact me by e-mail as soon as you accept a bid with the shippers name and contact phone number so I can work directly with them on the pickup time and date. They will need to be provided with extra food if they plan to spend the night in route.
I am currently using a private shipper who flies with Delta as my first shipping choice. When using this choice the puppy flies on board in a carry on which must fit under the seat. Obviously this only applies to small breed dogs and/or young puppies. Choosing this option you are paying only for transport and you will pick up the puppy only, not the carrier, at your airport. The shipper's name is Will and he charges $150 for the Eastern half of the US and $200 for the western half. Using this option you pay me a $50 shipping deposit with the price of the dog and the balance in cash to Will when you pick up the dog.
Cargo shipping by Plane is also available if necessary, prepaid with (in addition to) the price of the dog, for $300 and includes all of the following that I have to pay for:
Airline charges, airline approved crate, crate dish, Veterinary Health Certificate (which simply states the dog has no communicable diseases), Rabies Certificate if age appropriate, and transportation to Columbia Metropolitan Airport. I drive over 65 miles one way to the vet and Columbia airport. Shipping out of Atlanta, GA (175 miles one way), is $100 extra. I have itemized these things for you because so many people are under the assumption that shipping charges mean only airline charges.
If you do not specifically request and pay for insurance with the airline, you assume all liability for loss or injury to the dog once it is placed with the airline. I've shipped by plane since 1983 without incident but that is no guarantee.
Health Certificate Puppies are required by the Airlines to have a Health certificate which is good for 10 days. Health certificate can not be obtained until the puppy is at least 8 weeks of age. Cost is ~$35 Rabies shot is an extra $9 if given. Health certificate should be obtained not more than one to two days before shipping. Should there be any life-threating genetic problem found at the time of examination you may pick another available puppy listed for the same price.
I ship out of Augusta, Georgia (AGS) at the moment. Whatever airline flies dogs from AGS to your airport works for me. It will be easier for me if you check it out on your end first. I've spent hundreds of hours on the phone checking flights for people that never bought dogs so I've learned to do it this way. I've shipped Delta, Continental, US Air, Northwest and American over the years but out of different airports. You call around where ever you are... find out which airlines ship dogs NOW (some are temperature dependent) to your area that also fly in and out of AGS and then let me know. You cannot check this out online like you do for passenger flights. You have to call the individual airlines to see if they take pets flying alone and if they go to and from your airport to mine with pets. They all have toll free numbers.800-575-3335 is Continental’s, 800 227-4622 is American, 888 736-3738 is Delta’s. Once you get the information e-mail it to me and after I receive payment I will book the flight.
Delivery is also available, prepaid with price of dog, to your door for $1.00 per mile my door to yours by Mapquest directions. Feel free to call (803 270-0228) or e-mail (calabel@hughes.net) if you have questions.
